Cozy, warm, and naturally sweet, these Healthy Baked Apples with Cinnamon are a simple dessert that’s perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 firm apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji)

  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 2 tablespoons oats (optional)

  • 2 tablespoons chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

  • 12 teaspoons honey or maple syrup

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • 1 teaspoon butter or coconut oil (optional)

  • Splash of water for baking


Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Wash and core the apples, creating a hollow center for the filling.

  • In a small bowl, mix oats, nuts, cinnamon, and honey or maple syrup.

  • Spoon the filling into each apple.

  • Place the apples in a baking dish, add a splash of water, and top with butter if desired.

  • Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–35 minutes, uncovering for the last 10 minutes.

  • Check tenderness with a fork; apples should be soft but not mushy.
