Ingredients

4 firm apples (Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji)

1 teaspoon cinnamon

2 tablespoons oats (optional)

2 tablespoons chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans, optional)

1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup

1 teaspoon lemon juice

1 teaspoon butter or coconut oil (optional)

Splash of water for baking
Instructions

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Wash and core the apples, creating a hollow center for the filling.

In a small bowl, mix oats, nuts, cinnamon, and honey or maple syrup.

Spoon the filling into each apple.

Place the apples in a baking dish, add a splash of water, and top with butter if desired.

Cover loosely with foil and bake for 25–35 minutes, uncovering for the last 10 minutes.
